LINK temp sensor

Postby ke_25 » Thu Feb 25, 2010 10:04 pm

Hey,

just sorting out sensors etc for my ecu, which is a LINK G4, an was wondering what happens in terms of water temp sensor? the motor is a 20v 4agte, and has the factory ECU sensor, do i use this? or does link need a specific one, i havent checked for outputs etc yet, but i assume it needs one for cold start and choke etc

help is appreciated

im using the G3, but assume the G4 would be the same regarding these.

mine uses the standard 4age water temp sensor, no cold start sensor or injector. this is all done through the main injectors and setup by the crank / warm up enrichment etc in PClink.

it pays to use the specific air temp sensor for a turbo application though, im using the one which link sell themselves.

Will run off all stock sensors its best to use the link or better air temp as they are faster reading than most std ones

Can supply a brand new GM open or closed element temp sensor and a new plug for about $50.

be and advantage over the factory one?.. possibly as i dont have the plug, but besides that? do you have part number? i can generally acquire things reasonably cheap though ripco, as i part time work there.

Use a decent one, when I swapped my link into the mr2 I neglected to change the type of sensor in pclink. With it set to a standard type sensor the temp varied by a big increment .5-1.0 deg at a time. When I noticed that and changed it to the bosch setting like the sensor I'm using the number changes very quickly in .1 increments.

Hope that makes sense!

basically the turbo sensors respond to the air temp changes alot quicker compared to the n/a sensors so gives a more accurate reading.

but in saying that my brother was running his 4age turbo with one of the older link models and don't think he had an air temp sensor at all, and it went fine.
