Postby JamesM » Wed Mar 03, 2010 9:52 am

I have an old w57 bellhousing. But i dont know what car it came off.. celica. supra.. etc. is there any way to tell? (i assume they all had different engines so bells will be different)

Most likely either be a W-M bell or a W-G bell (I think the w57 only came out from behind the 1gge or the 5meu)

Are they not numbered on the top of the bellhousing like the "4A" ones?

I'd put my money on it being 1G as well.

Being that probably about 95% of W box bellhousings are G series... with the remainder 2-3% R or L series, 1.5% M series and .5% JZ series...

I suspect putting money on it being a G is quite likely :)

Check if there is a letter cast into the top or bottom external side of the housing.

Failing that, I think I have a G in the garage I'll check when I get a chance...

All W Series bellhousings have engine code at 1 o'clock position

SEARCH AND YOU WILL FIND!

I started this about a million years ago because lots of people were asking your exact same question...

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!
