Even if he had had it insured, if it was a wiring fault in his ecu or something he had done himself to the vehicle that caused the fire, chances are that the insurance company wouldn't pay out.

A mate did a dodgy head unit install in his car back in our school days, it shorted out and caused a fire under the dash & fried most of his interior.
After the insurance company discovered it was due to a wiring fault in the headunit wires they refused to pay out.

Can't remember quite who he was insured with

He's not going to reply, so stop trying.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Its a sad sight when something like that goes up in smoke, literally.

I had the pleasure of viewing it in the flesh once and was totally gobsmacked at the level of detail and man hours that had gone in to it at that stage and it still wasn't even finished, he had a few things to do.

I really feel for the guy eh, that car had a lot of potential in it

Heh, must have been someone else, sorry, my bad.

dude yea fully dont appreciate the douchiness of your post regarding insurance, insurance only gives you money doesnt give back the time and effort nor repair the devastation from something like this

youl also find out that insurance wont really cover race cars or the like so theres not really any point, events like targa just dont get covered.

Makes you want to shed a tear when this sort of thing happens.

On a side note, you can easily insure a vehicle like this but usually it doesnt happen untill its finished unfortunately as it can be covered earlier. Either way as previously said its not so much the money than the effort gone into it that makes you want to die inside.

Totally agree. Whether it's insured or not is besides the point. It still hurts to watch all your hard work go up in flames.

That totally sucks. The poor guy. Regardless of insurance I feel sorry for him :(

snwtoy it doesn't matter what type of car it is. Anyone's toy, regardless of how good it is (and this one was a goodie apparently!), is worth some sympathy when this kind of thing happens. Stop being a c(nt.

+1

Insurance doesn't cover working till early hours of the morning just so you can get that new shinny intercooler to fit...

Unfortunate reminder that fire destroys everything, and everyone should keep it in mind when moding stuff, especially with electrics and/or fuel.

snwtoy... try to imagine all the photos you have ever taken "disappearing" one day. :?

I think car fires are definatley a lot more gutting then crashes. Remember that brown wrx that got burnt to a crisp a few years back, that was pretty ratsht.

As gutting as it is, its better that the cars gone and hes alright and wasnt caught in it or anything horrible. Onwards and upwards
