To Gizzmo or not to Gizzmo

Postby eskimo » Thu Mar 25, 2010 6:28 pm

I currently have a Gizzmo cam FC in my AE111 corolla GT. It was in the car at when I got it. Its being used as an AFM

Its causing a few issues & Im wondering weather I remove it and plug the MAP sensor thing back in or leave it in the car and get it tuned correctly.

Reason im thinking of removing it as I dont see much point of having one on a lightly tuned NA engine.

I think the car could do with a tune with or without the FC but if i dont think there is any advantage of actually having in there apart from bling factor 8)

What do you guys think?

Any one think leaving the FC in the car has an advantage when it comes to tunning it?

it wont if you have stock cams, anything under 260 duration should not need a controller, it only controls when to turn off and on vvt right?

map sensor thing? whats been unplugged? something on the engine or the wiring loom.

Cam FC is Gizzmos's Apexi VAFC. It controls switchover as well as being a normal piggyback fuel controller. I'd say get it tuned properly and see what you think of it then.

its a blacktop eh?

your better of just ripping it off if the engines fairly low key, put that map sensor back on....

they are handy if you want to ditch the AFM on silvertops and for turbo engines...

Yea its a black top, I was thinking of removing it, getting the car tuned(the air fuel mixtures sorted as it runs a little ritch)

Ill either sell it or just save it for when I get around to building a 4AGTE

How will your car be tuned without it? The stock ECU isn't tunable...

Yea my bad, should of said. Ill be removing it and seeing what happens to the airfuel mixtures once it running the factory set up, as it currently runs a wee bit ritch

If you try to tune a blacktop ecu with a piggyback, it will usually just self tune itself back again

they run PERFECT on stock ECU as long as all sesnors are hooked up and map is correctly set.

This is what i was hoping to get back to by removing it rather than spend coin on dyno time to get the FC set up correctly
