Pretty much describes any other engine when not looked after.
Slow applies to a car not engine. Engine performance wise is on par with any other high performance engine with same cc and heritage.
I would also say that factory 1G powered Supra is a very slow car.

1G could also be leaky and have big ends problem.
1GF/GE have same leaky rocker cover problem as 3S.
Big ends... well it is up to owner most of the time (if you run 1G without oil in would also run bearings).

thats cos 1Gs are shit too

you are right of course sergei

but in my experience 3S is more prone to those problems than they should be

yes if you spend lotsa money here and there they MIGHT not leak and MIGHT go fast. but in comparison other engines arnt as shit.

let's be honest though, all the ones you've owned have probably been cheap pieces of shit that haven't been looked after.

I think the 3s is a good engine, obviously pretty old technology these days, but people have done a lot of good things with them, and well looked after/well built ones can last a long time and perform very well.

Both of my 3SGTEs don't leak.
One is gen1 (ST165) another is gen3 (ST205).

Ganna have to disagree with you there. Ajz on here (My flatmate for past 4 years) owned a Gtt and drove it hard a fare bit of the time, admittedly he did also service it well and let it warm up but it got pushed, never had a problem in 3 years. Before that he owned a 185 and a 183? (Non 4ws 3sge) both went sweet.

I think when buying a performance car it comes down to firstly doing your homework, secondly doing proper servicing and third a bit of luck (Which of these you didnt have/do I dont know)

also I love you 205 Serg, tis sex !

S motors leak because they lean over
any engine that leans over so oil pools against seals/gaskets and you will find they leak.

If you replace the oil seals at the service intervals they won't leak. If you've still got the original seals and gaskets in a 200,000km+ engine you can't really complain about it leaking.

My 3S and 5S don't leak and neither did my previous 2 3S's. Poorly maintained engines leak, well looked after engines don't.

yea its over opinionated and im being nasty to 3s engines lol
but my 3 grand low ks st165 sprung a leak it goes ok,

heres a rash way i justify myself, take an n/a aw11 thats nearly the same age, put it next to an st165, how much have you paid on fixing things on the st165 compared to the aw11

im only joking around anyways its not like this thread is serious.

Simple:

Look after your engine with servicing and whatnot, and it will look after you :)
