taking off 1JZ-GTE oil pump housing/front housing....?

Postby kim0663 » Tue Mar 30, 2010 10:36 pm

I've developed a massive oil leak. Probably due to neglected o-ring or some sort of dodgy shit that i don't know of.

Anyway, I need to take this housing off,

and i've got it all loose and moving.

It'll come out around 5mm ~ 10mm but gets stuck.
It seems to be stuck from within the sump.

I'm SURE someone on toyspeed has stripped this bloody thing and I'd really prefer to save some hassle by not taking off the sump, especially if I didn't have to.

Is there something under the oil pump housing that gets caught on the sump? Must the sump come off? <- is my question.

Engine is a rear/mid sump 1jzgte in a jzz30 soarer.

Very simple thing : oil pickup. You will need to take the sump off and undo it.

does the subframe have to come off for the sump to come off even if it's a mid/rear sump?

Those pics look more like... an aristo or something front sump?

I don't have access to an engine crane....

omfg this is becoming a huge job which I thought would be a
simple cambelt on and off thing omfg omfg omfgwtfbbq!!!

Dont forget to replace the two O ring seals

Those two FKN seals are the reason i want to take the housing off

You need to get sub frame low enough to remove sump only

Have look here

http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-generation/475133-2jz-gte-jzs161-oil-pump-and-rod-bearing-replacement-in-vehicle.html

Rent a engine brace

Seals were in stock when I replaced my oil pump I can help with replacments if Toyota dont have
