heres a rash way i justify myself, take an n/a aw11 thats nearly the same age, put it next to an st165, how much have you paid on fixing things on the st165 compared to the aw11

or you could compare an n/a aw11 to an st162, I think they'd be much more comparable in terms of reliability. You can't really compare an n/a aw11 to a old turbo charged, four wheel drive car because they're so much more complicated and are more demanding of maintenance.

There's a Turbo FWD Celica out there making 165Kw ATW (220 FWHP) - at 7psi. This is about the equiv to a factory 3s-gte at 14psi.

Nah was built many many many years ago, before Cole had it. He did a ton of work tidying it up though.

And then getting surpassed at around 5000 rpm as the factory 3S-GTE comfortably hits 18psi / ~300HP

My gen 1 3sgte has done 260ks and doesn't leak oil. And have owned it since 170ks. May have been rebuild at some stage before I got hold of it???

I have one too, that does not leak oil. although I drove 0km in last 2 years . Need to get it WOFed rego and tuned, but no budget.

You do know that a 3SGTE makes more torque lower in the rev range than a 3SGE right? Also full boost is available before 3000rpm. I'd rather the low end power of a 3SGTE than the low end "power" of a 3SGE.
