I’m rebuilding the MR2’s engine. New forged 2618 pistons are the order of the day. I’m also debating having the tops of the pistons ceramic coated, since its only an extra $150-160
My question is, will this affect the recommended wall tolerance?
Given that 2618 has a larger recommended tolerance to start with, and may rattle a little when cold, would the ceramic coating keep enough heat out of the piston that it’s worth worrying about, or am I confusing heat transfer properties of the ceramic coating with ultimate temperature?
