AE111/101/92 rear strut - aftermarket insert problem

Postby KinLoud » Wed Mar 31, 2010 10:44 pm

OK - i have an AE111 wagon. I want to put my trd adjustable strut inserts into the rear struts...
BUT
I can seem to find any rear struts that have a threaded tube, they all seem to be welded ones? (I look everytime I go to pick a part)

Does anyone know if threaded ones exist?

Or should I just find a suitable diameter threaded top and get it welded on to a strut?

I found a threaded one for the front strut no problem at all!

Thanks

Ken

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

There were some, but very few, standard rear struts with screw tops.
Most floating around now will be aftermarket housings.
I might have some here but if you can't find any you can cut the top off the sealed ones and weld on a screw fitting.

Thanks for that info - yeah cut and weld is probably where I will go.
But if I can find threaded ones it will be way simpler

Threaded ones - were they nz new only or JDM also?

Thanks

My preface lift AE101 Levin had threaded tops. Shouldn't be too hard to find some 2nd hand ones of those.
Just check out the brake hose bracket
