need ae101 4afe pinout diagram(good quality)

Postby touge_ae101 » Sun Apr 04, 2010 4:18 pm

hey guys.

in the middle of swapping my 4afe out for a BT.

just wanting to find another pinout diagram for a ae101 4afe. searched the net but all i could find was this

Image

the quality is a bit crap and can't quite make out the last pin on the top connector(the one i need to splice into the BT connector). i got as far as W? maybe R??

if anyone has had experience with this and could give me the heads up or if there is a decent quality diagram out there it would be good to have!

not wanting to play the guessing game with wiring this up 8)

Crack the lid off the ECU, the pins are all labeled on the PCB :)

what parts of the wiring are you having problems with?

just figuring out which of part of the 'body' loom to use. the connector on the ecu that is used for AC etc i may have figured out but still trying to figure out what each of the wires under the fusebox do. can't find any diagrams to match up the ae101/ae111. i have the complete BT loom (cut below fuse box)

i am assuming the ST ae101 and 4afe ae101 share the same body looms. can anyone confirm this?

cheers molex will get it off tonight :)

ok, so sorry i didn't define my problem very well before :?

took a few pics and would like some help identifying the set of connectors in the white cradle to the left of the ecu in this pic

Image

in a ae111, does this sit just just infront of the ecu behind the radio? if so i think this mainly runs heater guff. which i would like to get going.
from this set of connectors i have traced 8 or so wires that need to be connected to the ae101 body loom incl. tail light relay, defog, starter relay, warning light etc etc. just wanting to try to narrow down what the rest of the wires do and how to get them to work :?

also haven't got much of a clue with this bit yet as haven't been able to find any diagrams of the fusebox and what each wire does to translate between ae101 (4afe) and ae111.

Image

the cut wires is what i'm trying to figure out atm. :o would it be a better idea to find a fusebox for a ae111 4afe body and see if there are any connectors that could possibly cross over? can anyone confirm/deny this??

if anyone has any info or has done this before it would be good to know!

Ok here is my input. I have done similar conversion, but put a blacktop in AE82.
What you will find most colours will be same or very similar, but all plugs will be different and not interchangeable. What also you will find that some wires are routed differently.

Engine loom goes in as it is without much of modification (you will need to splice it with fuse box). ECU, I hope you have all connectors, as it will need to splice with body loom (various sensors for guagues etc.).
You will have some real WTF moments (lack of PS idle up valve on rack for example), or even hooking up speed sensor (it goes into dash, where from ECU gets signal).

The fuse box from 4AFE AE111 will not help as it will be almost exactly the same as fusebox from 4AGE AE111.

The difference in your case is not from 4AFE vs 4AGE, but chassis (as in AE10X vs AE11X).

P.S. I believe it is easier to keep AE101 fuse box (or you will end up rewiring a lot of stuff that is unrelated to the engine).

cheers sergei that helped heaps to clarify what my main concerns are.

i had thought about rewiring the ae101 fusebox but i can't find any diagrams of whats underneath it all to figure out what i need to splice into the ae111 loom from the engine. does anyone know where i can get one?or even if someone has a pic of the top of a ae101 fusebox? (mine has been worn out)

little bit hesitant about just wiring up same/similar colours without knowing what they are.

re speed sensor, what was the issue there?i had thought the speed sensor comes (from gbox) through the BT loom to the ecu and then goes to the dash from there?

i think that will see me through to the end of the week once i have refined my soldering skills. lol still waiting for engine crane though!! :x

Here are the following things you will need to watch out:

As far as I know the actual path of speed signal is: speed sensor->speedo (that converts low level signal to proper square wave) -> ECU.

As for the fuse box, the pic from the top will not help, as the plugs under are in no way related to what the relay fuse above it is.
There is whole network of interconnects sandwiched between where the relays/fuses plug in to where the plugs under go.

What you will need to splice into your loom/fusebox is not a lot:
Alternator related stuff (including main 100A wire, which is very obvious) - ~3 wires in total.
AC and fan related wires (if you have AC). I am not sure, but most likely you will need to do something about two pumps being incompatible. Retaining AC could be night mare if you are not comfortable to going to library and photocopying whole bunch of diagrams off AE10X Corolla manual. Alternatively you can buy AE10X Corolla repair manual that will help you a lot (they sell them at repco).

possumr has one (search in TS members), he might sell you at discounted price. Although I am not sure if it covers AE10X but AE9X should be close enough (even my ST16X-ST18X manual is close enough for random wiring jobs on odd toyotas).

If you look at the engine loom side of the fuse box, there is not a lot of wires coming in (~10-15).

The most difficult bit will be matching body loom side (from inside of the car).

i havent read any of the above... but... when i put a blacktop into my ae101 gt sedan which already had a silvertop in it i found that it was easiest to use the silvertop loom and add the IAT and MAP sensors into the loom and then change the plugs at the computer, if you can get a cheap silvertop loom this could be a good option for you
When in doubt, down and out.

was just after the pic on top of the fusebox so i can trace the wires underneath and figure out which ones i need for each fuse etc.

not going to worry about AC and got the speed sensor wire sorted it is already at the 4afe ecu plug and will just switch it over with the other 6 wires.

yeah the body loom is what i'm most worried about. could look at finding a silvertop loom but $$ is of the essence and i have 2weeks up my sleeve to do this wiring so guna give it a go and see if i can nut it out and save the $$ to get my brakes sorted and certed

look out library here i come! 8)

Cheers for your help guys
