4agze water inlet pipe.

Postby Quirky » Mon Apr 12, 2010 4:34 am

Driving on Saturday night *crack* steam and water pissing out.
Turns out the water pipe has cracked.
Ive gone through TOYODIY:
Image
Engine is a ae92 map sensored 4agze and that inlet pipe looks different to the one I have?
Maybe I am looking at it wrong but is this the right water pipe?
Any hints on the best way to replace it?

I believe I have an AE101 GZE pipe laying around. I will have to double check if it is there.

like bazda said, thers a difference, if you use a 4age 1 ull need the matching block thingy it bolts onto on the cambelt side of the engine (part 16331)
the faster u go, the quicker u get there

16331 has nothing to do with that pipe... it attaches to the back of the waterpump

ahh ok, the diagrams used on toyodiy are the same for all the 4ag. However they do list different part numbers. Thats all I needed.

Alright got the pipe out. Surprisingly easy, took about 10 mins.
Image
There was a braket that was welded onto the pipe that broke. No screws on the original mount, weird.
Is this a 4agze water pipe? It looks different to the diagram in original post because it only has one bolt mounted to the water outlet thing.

Im not going to buy a new one, im gonna get a shop to weld over it.
Any problems with this idea?
New one is $140 from Japan...

NO lol no its not ok to weld it up....

what that does is feeds water around the head and block bypassing the the thermostat so the car can get warm, pump water around and get the heater warm too.

without that water would sit stationary in the head and block, boiling and rooting things , the thermostat would never open.

wats with the brack thats been welded ot it....

the hoes just hasnt cracked someones made it weak by welding to it then its ripped a chunk out.

Apparently the original bolt screws to the supercharger? But because of the supercharger removed it doesn't bolt to anything...I think thats how the workshop explained it to me.

ahahahah so i was right! you can see the difference i was talking about in your pic, your 1 has the bolt bolting the pipe to the casting on the left side, where the pipe in the diagram has it on the right.

looks like a fair bit of corrosion on that pipe, you are running coolant right, not just plain water?

why not?, its only mild steel tube. Ive brazed a few coolant pipes in the past.

as long as its not corroded too badly, welding is definately an option.
