Silvertop Cam seals..

Postby Lurkin » Wed Apr 14, 2010 5:52 pm

Getting a cam belt done on a silvertop today, supplied the parts from repco.

was supplied with a cam seal kit by the part number TSK-28.

Mechanic has been held up by one of cam seals not fitting...

rang repco back, found there is two sizes listed:

35 x 49 x 6 and
40.5 x 54.5 x 7

- unfortunately didn't ask the mechanic what he had actually ordered or where from...

Does anyone from repco / has done this recently know the deal here? sounded as if the other seals had fitted fine? anyone know what seal it should be?

will be getting the car/ bill back tomorrow thus will be able to check what has actually gone onto the car....

There are two sizes listed because inlet and exhaust ones are very different, where inlet is larger.

hmm ok. just a little weird that the kit didn't have two different ones? is this the case with BT and 16v 4ages? does it relate to having vvt?

and thats what you get from going to repco. All their shit is always backwards. I have had many problems over the years with them and incorrect gaskets

repco itself is fine, its the staff that are the problem - 95% of them are teenage school leavers, dont really know what you expect... just need to get familiar with your local and find the one or two guys there are at each branch that have some idea whats up

They tend to employ check out staff now, not parts people

So yeah as above, scope out the old hands and use them!

I remember trying to put some gaskets and points and condensor for my KE70 at repco in Welly.... I got a confused look from the 18 yr old girl....
