its for rwd so its a 1G starter,
needs a 9mm spacer for it to work and to center it,

picture slightly different being older model but mounting is the same,

how do you conclude that it is a 1G starter just because its RWD?

ST150 starters look very similar to that and are front wheel drive........

Not quite.

try a factory AE86 starter, some models had this type of reduction drive starter from the factory.

part No. 28100-15130 or 15180 if it came off a AE92 (hard to say as the seller says it suits both, although it looks exactly the same as one I have which is AE86/15130 but I don't have a 15180 to compare)

they came ae86 factory?!!! didn't know that,
i just spent money getting a spacer ring to fit the 1g starter in the ae86,
i have a ae92 one but it doesn't look as robotic as these style starters,

I don't know which countries got them and also not sure why as they are still from the same manufacturer so it can't be a local market supplier requirement?

The 1g conversion is good though as you will get another starter with ease and all you'll ever need to replace are your contacts/plunger in the solenoid.

I will check on monday, but I don't think it would be worth the hassle of buying one of these starters (the one on Ebay), as parts might not be easy to get.

The AE92 starter of this design has a different housing but should work (although I have never tried). There are quite a few different types of starter for the AE92 though.

its just a reduction starter, you dont need to get a 1g just get one off a small port, they probally just sold these starters to people as OEM cause they were the later product

i would find it hard belive any prefacelift ae86 had these is yours facelift? must have been fricken late.

Isn't the one you want a smallport starter? old style bolt pattern but with 20v style starter guts?

The smallport starter are planetry gear reduction
not the same as the 1G type, which is normal gear reduction.

The 20V type is also planetry gear reduction,

And I have never heard of any AE86 having any form of reduction starter from factory.

yes i agree with matt,
the a92 smallport starter is not quite the same to a reduction 1G style one and the one posted(reduction starter aswel)

i had a ae92 starter first on my blacktop at 11.2:1 compression and it was dieing, and now i will be 11.8:1 compression so i figure i may aswel upgrade to the 1G for reliability,

the spacer is very easy to make its only a 9mm alloy plate with holes drilled in it, i could of been rangi and used washers and it would work :o
