Air box temp sensor

Postby ST205 GT4 NZ New Group A » Mon Apr 19, 2010 4:23 pm

Hi just a general question on the relevance of the air temp sensor in the air box on a st205 3sgte.

Is it just for ambient air temp to the ecu or is there a comparison with the plenum air temp sensor, how does it figure in the equation ie what does the ecu do with this input and how does it affect tuning and the state of the engines operation.

Thanks

WOAH!!! you've got a pentium air temp sensor? That's hard core. Mines a dx66 486 at best!

Do they even have two IAT sensors?
normally there will only be one,
in the airbox,
in the AFM,
or in the plenium,
but usually only one.

I believe the airbox one is used to activate low boost mode when the ambient temp is too cold. Guess the easiest way to test that theory would be to replace it with a 5-10kOhm resistor and see what it does ;)
