I have put a ae92 smallport 4agze into my levin using a w57 gearbox with niteparts adaptor, a certain crap shop (on the limit) put the gearbox back in it for me with a 5 puck exedy clutch, i did about 500km with no issues, driving down the road one day and suddenly the clutch wouldn't work, i've pulled the box back out and discovered the centre of the clutch plate has torn away from the puck section, at first i thought it was from too much power but on closer inspection i noticed said shop hadn't put the spigot bearing back in when re-assembling. I got another clutch plate and fresh spigot bearing and set out to fix it, first problem arose: bearing wouldn't fit into the hole at all. I removed the flywheel and used a vernier to discover the hole was/is 5mm too small for the bearing (factory hole is 32mm). Going to all bearing shops on the shore they all said 28mm was the smallest bearing available with a 12mm centre hole (for input shaft w5x & t50) so after going to many shops with no answers i ended up at toyotas galore where the answer would finally be found. After searching through many 4age's i finally spotted it, fwd 4age gearboxes have a shorter input shaft which butts up to the smaller 27mm locator in the crank, whereas the rwd 4age's have a longer input shaft and bigger crank/spigot bearing hole to fit the 32mm bearing, hopefully this all makes sense? My problem is i can't find a 27mm bearing anywhere, i have found out that nissan's use a brass bush but the diameter is only 16 odd mm, has anyone else had this issue and found a decent solution without having to take the crank out and machine the hole to accept the bigger bearing?
