1JZ/2JZ engine mounts... differences?

Postby RomanV » Sun Apr 25, 2010 12:00 am

Hey,

Just wanting to know how similar (or not) the engine mounts are for various 1J or 2J engines.

Have a damaged one needing replacement, wanting to know what other cars I can get one from.

From a JZX100 chaser if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

hey roman howsit! regarding jz engine mounts, yes all are different depending on what car they originate from - alloy brackets I am referring to.
The same rubber insulators are used across the car range im pretty sure. Although I just helped a friend transplant a jzx100 1jzgte engine and they have 2 bolts coming out the bottom not one so thats the one your refering to I take it? only jzx100's have those rubbers afaik as have not seen any other vvti turbo powered engines from soarers or aristo/supras . hope this helps!

from memory the aley mounts are the same on both the vvti 1jzge and 1jzgte as well as the rubber engine mounts

and i do beleave some 2jzge alley mounts are the same

the rubber mounts are special to the vvti 1jz's in the jzx100, you will be lucky if TNZ as anything jzx100 related on the shelf, i can honestly say that for a fact

ring up trent @ totaly toyota in teh naki, he has heaps of stuff kicking around for this type of thing

If you find some JZA80 mounts, you'll want to make sure these are the 98+ ones as the 93-98 ones have a slight bend in them and are deeper.

I got new ones for mine (98+ JZA80 ones) and were about $80 each. Maybe the locator pins are in the wrong place but a little grind is all it takes to sort it :)

Yeah the factory rubber part is damaged on one side (Ripped in half! wtf)

So need what ever rubber mount will fit into the mount that bolts to the block... Doesnt matter what the bottom half is, because the mounts on the crossmember are going to be made to suit whatever.

Cheers for advice people

You can get engine brackets for a mz10, the older syle mounts are far better, the ones from the jz/uz from that era are junk, everyone ive seen have broken.
