Had a friend in christchurch who was at the riccarton mall during the day and while he was in the mall someone smashed his window and stole about $2500 worth of camera gear and ipods. but he was insured and ended up with 7-8k worth of camera gear and only cost him $100 for his excess IIRC.

So how is Insurance Fraud any better?
The lenses he had, he bought secondhand off trade me and the insurance company couldnt buy secondhand equipment to replace them, so they paid for brand new stuff
