Missed oppurtunity to get NZ back on to a yearly schedule there I think.

Rally New Zealand was forced to turn down a September date in next year's World Rally Championship due to a clash with the Rugby World Cup, which is taking place in New Zealand at the same time.

Seriously?

$&#$% meatheads.
I hate rugby now, I was indifferent (what ever floats their boat) but now their $&#$% boat just rammed my boat.

Yeah, stupid isn't it.

And all that boat ramming sounds vaguely gay.....

No, Rugby is homosexual (in a bad way, because they are homophobic meat heads). In no other sport (perhaps judo?) you get to be intimate with another man.

Anyway, rugby is a bad reason to not have WRC here.

Oh I agree.

I mean if it's going to be as big as they say it is, then it would be the perfect time to have it!

I dont think there would be enough attention on it maybe that is why. I dont know why they would NEED to drop one or the other but if it came to that we all know which one it would be

Rugby world cup will be bigger anyway. I'd rather watch a rally than rugby usually. But you can't argue with what the World cup will do for NZ. Should have just had them both. But World cup >>> Rally in the big scheme of things imo.

Meat heads lol,

Sad news, im not a huge rubgy fan and would much rather spend cash on seeing the WRC than watch a bunch of dudes grope each other.

It all comes down to money, cant see the goverment ever investing as much cash into international motorsport as they do into rubgy.

Just don't read/watch/listen to it? I managed to ignore all the Justin Beiber/Beaver hype that I found annoying.

I agree that more government support of motorsport would be great, unfortunately/fortunately (depending on what side of the fence you are on) rugby is pretty well established and the govt sees it as a bit of an investment for the economy.

Could I rent out my 3 bedroom house for 10k a week for four weeks if the rally was in town?

I won't, we have had this discussion before, and you seem to bare an unshakeable grudge (perhaps with reason)

Anyway, back on topic, lets just hope that it doesn't jeopardise the future of rally nz too much.

Super keen for domain special stage next week too!

I believe government is spending far too much time and money on meat heads.
Instead they should consider spending it on real education (and not only physical one either). There are far too many stupid people in the world.

Whilst using the RWC as a reason for it not being here next year, NZ and Australia WRC are on a rotation system, and WRC more than likely wouldn't be here any way. the media spin was probably done by some rugby loving journo, as a way of prompting the government for more funds.

in saying that, the helicopter footage of some of the stages (especeially Whannga Coast) sell the tourism dollar to the great unwashed.

for sure the RWC will bring a fair few punters here, but most of them won't get outside the concrete jungles except in a plane to watch a game in another concrete jungle

Yes they were, but this would have been the perfect chance to break that and get it back to yearly.
I mean with all the extra people that are meant to be here it would have been the perfcet time for a massive tourism boost.
Afterall what do you think the rest of the world cares about most? RWC or WRC.
I bet you it doesnt start with a R.....
