blacktop idling rough than stalling

Postby Cakky » Wed Apr 28, 2010 10:02 pm

Car has been playing up recently, car will idle away at about 1000rpm, then will slowly drop down every couple of seconds until it stalls. Have done diagnostic check and nothing flashed up.

My air filter is particularly dirty @ the mo, very dirty infact, will this be a cause of the problem? Or will it be something else? Cheers

I had the same on a Silvertop and ended up taking the Idle Control Sensor jobbie out then spraying with carb cleaner, it came out black as black.

That fixed the problem for me.

Clean/replace the filter first though

EDIT: google ISCV - Idle Speed Control Valve

+1

Those symptoms could also be that it's running lean, i.e. High revving for a little then dying? Not likely though
