I don't know that! Isn't your radiator supposed to remove heat from the water coming into it so that the water exiting the bottom hose is much cooler, just like mine does?

from my knowledge hot water from going through the engine goes out the bottom and gets sucked in the top after cooling while passing through the radiator etc

Now, heat rises.... Why would it flow like that?

Does it reach the correct temp quickly?
Does it hold a stable heat and not fluctuate?

Yes that is the way it should be.

the water going to the radiator is hot, and the water coming from the radiator is cold,

that makes sense.

The 20V tkes the cold water in the end of the head so it flows across all the inlet ports, and then out the intake side of the head and into the back of the water pump.

and it flows out the exh side of the head to the radiator.

So it was a dud thermostat after all.

What was the subject line of this thread again?
oh yeah,

If it doesn't seal completely then that defines it as being broken. It doesn't take much for them to not get an engine up to temp

I had two cheapies from repco fail on my corolla - ended up getting my money back and buying one from Toyota Parts.

3 Thermostat replacements in 4 months - like you I kept wondering if it were something else!
