I just see it as, someone goes around a corner in the wet and ends up on a path killing someone. Who is at fault? The driver, the weather or the person on the footpath. Something went wrong somewhere along the line, and to me it seems the driver is at fault.

Whether they were driving like a loony or not doesn't really matter. If they had been driving to the conditions it wouldn't have happened. It's that simple.

im not fired up by the media, im going by what i see and eye witness reports,

to give you a better idea of the area he lost it,
i live and go p[ast that part 2 times a day,

from where he came out of eastgate mall surrounding street to where he lost it is (150meters, edit from 300 cos i was thinking of the east gate outlet), and to mount the curb and complete take out a concert cinder block fence, :roll:

IF HE WAS DRIVING NORMAL: that means he lost it on the straight road because he would already have been on linwood ave,


IF HE WAS A D1CK: he would of been booting it to get it up to the speed from coming out of the side street for that kind of impact, snaking all the way from at least ten house down,

if any one from CHCH goes to there and have a look to see the distances involved then you'd know its too far away for him to lose control, backing off throttle could of let him stop in time, but i suspect he kept the throttle on,

nicely put chelles, i do feel for the guy who has to deal with this hanging over his head for life and i have done irresponsible stuff on the road but not in 5pm traffic at busy intersections, there is a time and place for everything.

heart goes out to the family that is hard to go through.

He had a rush of cum to the head, puit his foot down and f%$@ked up.

When I was 18 I did this many times, mounted the kerb once or twice, buckled a rim or 2, never hit anything though. So did 90% of young "car enthusiasts" of that age. Part of growing up as a car nut in a country where car control isn't taught as part of driver training .

I think he realised how badly he $&#$% up when he saw the family there and was heading sideways for them unable to regain control. Hence the fact he was trying to give CPR to one of the kids straight after the accident.

He will have to live with this for the rest of his life, and will probably consider suicide more than once.

Horsepower restrictions have buttfuck nothing to do with this, it's an auto spec S silvia (ie a measly 140hp). Besides theyre one of the easiest cars out there to control in a slide. Maybe, if some basic car control skills were taught to all young drivers this wouldnt have happened

I can't believe the number of people that think this kind of driving is an accident, or part of growing up etc. :roll:

Anyone got a google map link so we can see the challenging piece of straight suburban road that it happened on?

How nieve is that, what a lame excuse. If that was the case why werent more cars spinning out? Oh, maybe its because they didnt have there boot up it from coming out of a corner.

Yes, people say it was rush hour, how could he have been going so fast? Easy, its only a few hundred meters from a major intersection (on the outward side for this direction of traffic) if the lights were green for the north/south bound lames, this section of road would have been practically empty.

As for traffic stopping to turn? Turn where?

As from the map posted, the crash site is the house on the corner of Jollie St, number 309, and it appears the car came from the side street of Chelsea St. So there is no where that cars would have been stopped and waiting to turn (other than if traffic was backed up for blocks which possibly happens occasionally) as the next place that vehicles have to stop is 6 blocks up the road.

I saw the crash site last night, before i had see it i had bit of sympathy for driver. Now i seen it the driver definately looks like he had to be doing something illegal.

Also i no the cop in charge of it so hopefully ill find out what happened before the media get into it

It's not a power issue You can lose control of anything with enough lack of attention. Which sounds like exactly what happened here with an influence of not driving to the conditions.

True, but with more power its MUCH easier to lose control on corners and in the wet etc

Of course there aren't any of us that have never done anything wrong, but the difference between doing something wrong and not knowing how much you need to slow down in the wet is a completely different story. Especially considering this was in 'peak time'.

I can think of a few times I should have given way to people, etc. but I've never had anything happen that involved going too fast for the conditions.

i would have to admit every time i take the Levin for a drive, i attempt to drive to fast for the conditions.

my mates brother has spec s silvia its manuel he reckons it would beat standard da tegs so not particular slow at all.it also doesnt have a lsd factory.
