Gotta love vtnz... The one in Nelson tried failing me on 'non factory intercooler pipes' and more recently 'drivers side sun visor showing age' on my Laser, its 23 years old ffs  Stupid bunch of failed mechanics.

VTNZ fail, one of the local ones here (rotovegas) failed my FXGT for a steering rack boot (which sure is a warrant fail item) pull the car down to find that its not the steering rack boot, it was the CV boot that was split (non warrant item) guy couldn't identify the difference between a CV boot and a steering rack boot, went back and attempted to speak to manger, he just wasn't interested, I won't go back to them

I've had a real mixed bag with VTNZ. One time I got failed for having an oil leak and my high stop light not being red enough (the lense was faded). Other than that, I've actually found them to be pretty good. I get all my WOFs for my MR2 through them, and despite sometimes being a bit anal, they've never failed that on anything unreasonable - and my car is the type I would expect to be picked on by WOF inspectors.

Im sure the vast majority of people who work at VTNZ are Decent enough people, but i think being such a large chain they have their fair share of muppets working for them, and i have just been unlucky enough to run into one of them!

def need to mat the $&#$% up and go in angry, sort the wankers out.

if you have all the relevent paperwork and as you say the headlights have since been fixed then you have every right to demand a warrant.

My flatmate came home today, and failed his warrant because there is a little bit on condensation in his reverse lights! I thought they weren't even required for a warrant? they still work and are visable. I told him to go back tomorrow, and tell them where to shove it...

I went to VTNZ for my MR2 and I had a leaky exhaust flange which I knew about. They passed it but this time after I 'fixed' it they found it. The guy testing my car was having way to much fun reving it.

I only go there because it's easier than having to book in my car and not have a car to get to work. Wellington trains are bad.

VTNZ passed my friends old EX lancer (factory 1.2L and 4speed). At the time it had cut springs in the front, 2L and 5speed from a Sigma... All uncertified.

How about tell him to take the light out, remove the bulb and warm the light to remove the condensation? That would be the better way to approach the problem.

or just take the bulbs out, you are not required to have reverse lights for a wof.

Just to add, both must not work, you cannot have 1 working and 1 not.

Lol, and to think I thought fixing the problem would be the best idea to recommend.... its not even that hard :? I would have thought if your car is fitted with reversing lights, they should work. Taking out the bulb should still be a fail imo, ah well, whats the point of a loophole if you're not going to use it aye :P
