(3) Batteries:
(a) All batteries shall be securely mounted and have the live terminal adequately covered,
(b) Batteries located in the cockpit shall;
(i) Be mounted on a flat metal base, and
(ii) Have two insulated metal clamps affixed by a minimum of 8 mm (ISO 8.8) bolts and
nuts in combination with under floor counter plates, and

(iii) For ‘wet cell’ batteries an independently attached leak-proof box vented to the vehicle
exterior is required.
(iv) For a sealed “dry cell” (i.e.: may be fitted in any orientation, without any loss of fluid)
may be mounted in the cockpit without a leak proof box.

nothing about the thickness or anything of the straps?

No wont get through all all that is holding it is PK screws and the material strap.

Need to bolt it down inside the box.

and not in your case, but if the box is inside the cabin,
you also need to seal the box which is a PITA.

can people post pictures of there setup,

im putting the plastic batt box in boot now and the sealed and vented to outside part is quit strange, didn't know it needed to be vented,
if its that much stress i might just buy a dry cell,

If it is in the boot, and the boot is sealed from the cabin, (i'e 4dr sedan)
then the box does not need to be sealed.
But if the boot is unsealed,( i.e. FXGT or 3dr Hatch)
then the box must be sealed and vented.

Basically they have decided that you must not be able to inhale the battery vapours, but the vapour must have somewhere to go.

Note: not all 4-dr sedans have a sealed boot.

Taking a quick look at the photos have you got:
"with under floor counter plates".
These can be as simple as some large flat washers.

there is no specification listed AFAIK for the size of the straps, however because you are using steel, you will need to find a way to insulate it. (I've got plastic tube over mine, if you end up coming over tomorrow you will see).

The ventilation is a requirement, as it is a sealed box it needs to be able to breathe in case of a spill or any other leak.

Just to clarify though, this is a requirement for racing, but not for a WOF or cert. (Which I've heard some people say it is, in the past)

I'm only giving guidance for MSNZ Schedule A requirements.
