coolant problem

Postby sark.inc » Sat Jun 05, 2010 5:59 pm

With the 4age silvertop, is there any trick to bleeding it?

I filled it up, put new thermostat in, bleed it and bleed it, heats up but thermostat will not open, how ever heater works when i rev the car to say 1,400 rpm or so, but the car starts to cool off with the heater going and as soon as revs drop to 800 or so, the heater stops working?!?!?!

Would having the heater hoses around the wrong way cause this sorta problem?

When I bleed them,

top up the radiator and leave the cap off,
turn the heater onto hot, but not the fan on.

Run it with the cap off and keep it topped up with water until thye radiator fans come on.
When they switch off again, top it up and put the cap on.

If it surges and boils and pours out the cap before the fans come one,
(which des happen sometimes)
then it has an airlock and you will need to manually cold bleed the system somehow.

Must be another blown headgasket.

Unless your heater hoses ARE the wrong way round but you would have already swapped them just in case?

Don't know why people have problems, they bleed themselves when the motor runs.
