4agte vs. 7agte

Postby NOLAW » Thu Jun 10, 2010 4:34 pm

Well as some of you may know my 4agte ran the bearings and iv decidced to prevent further dissapointment later down the track and im going to completly rebuild the bottom end, forged internals etc.
Im seriously considering rebuilding a 7a-fe bottom end over the ZE one and going 7agte, i will be using my stock 16V smallport ZE head with quads, turbo etc regardless for the time being as im not looking to go with a 20v head as of yet.

Before i go ahead with these plans i just want to get a few more opinions of what your thoughts are regarding the 4agte vs. the 7agte

Power comparison, HP, torque, rev range etc

Let me know what ya recon

cheers guys

Just remember to budget for forged rods, 7AFE ones wont handle the jandle.
Obviously it'll make more torque, its 200cc's bigger, which also gives it the capacity to spool turbos quicker.
Have you had a good look through the projects section? There are multiple 4AGTE things making 200+kw, which in a 20 would be fairly $&#$% loose.

The two engines I built, 4A and 7A,
were both similar internal's, used the same pistons, std heads, similar comp ratio etc,

and the 4A made 300hp and the 7A made 420ish,

the differences were ST head against BT head and a larger Turbo,
and the 7A had rods, but thats reliability not HP,
so take from that what you will.
