Postby tech128 » Thu Jun 03, 2010 11:23 pm

hi just got a 4efte starlet it doesnt have any pull at all
it drives like it has no turbo
it has a bov it has a adjustable fuel pessure regulator on the return of the
rail.it has a scream pipe but doesnt make a noise at all bit weired
the engine revs fine doesnt miss or hesitate starts good an all
has a pod filter and factory top mount intercooler
heres the thinng it says acording to the boost guage which is connected to the same line as the bov 12psi boost which goes up to that
the bov is working etc but no feel at all just noise
what should i look for ist plugs and colour rich or lean
compresion has done 222k doesnt blow smoke blue
waste gate seizure is this common
not too sure about the fuel presure what is the standard value
and intercooler leaks maybe test the bov or waste gate actuators
and map sencor any other ideas would b much apreciated
might do a te1 an e1 aswell
cheers guys

lolwat?

my Sis's Glanza V ages back, the turbo did seize at one stage tho, due to lack of oil change, wasn't by that much too.

But if you're getting a boost reading then it's something else.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Try make your posts a bit more tidy

I'm no mechanical expert but I guess if you're getting a boost reading it's nothing turbo related; you'll probably have to look at your throttle... throttle cable loose, sticking throttle body, something like that perhaps?

Just a suggestion. Maybe one of the more experienced guys can suggest if this is a possibility.

It is a poem!

So do you hear turbo spooling up?

Are you sure you have boost?

Remove intake pipe off turbo and have a feel around compressor, see if it turns freely.

Is it still running factory turbo? There should be no need for a fuel pressure reg if so, they run pretty rich as it is anyway. If the base pressure has been turned up then it may be running super rich which would explain why its really gutless. Id be taking the fuel reg off and returning that side of things back to stock and seeing if it gets any better.

not boosting well

Postby tech128 » Wed Jun 16, 2010 6:37 pm

I removed the sparkplugs on the starlet in the weeknd. And i have found that the engine is running lean.
I set the aftermarket fpr between 35 and 40 psi it was on about 20 or so.
i also found a large spring that was in the engine bay and found that it belonged to the bov.
i hav checked the turbo for play and freeness turns fine.
also found the dump pipe loose and the outlet of the compressor pipe loose aswell grrr.
any other ideas woud be great.
cheers
