Restoration type Panelbeater in Auckland

Postby Simon86 » Tue Jun 22, 2010 11:05 pm

As the title suggests I am on the hunt for a good panelbeater to do some corrective work on the shell of my AE86.

It doesn't have any rust as it has had all the paint removed via super high pressure water blasting (pics here if you're interested... http://super86.wordpress.com/ae86/ ) and is reasonably straight for an AE86 but has some creasing on the very front of the chassis rails.

I'm really looking for someone who would do the repairs properly, not filling with weld and then filler to smooth!

Any recommendations appreciated.

Cheers
Simon

Yep - real fussy, but I have regretted the sale of my first 86 so I guess that I am taking a longer term view and doing this properly!

Depending on where you are you could try Dr. Rust in Ashfield St Glenfield. Does a lot of work on older cars and has had at least one feature article in classic car (on an Alfa). One man band by the name of Matt Shepard. Prices I got were generally reasonable as well.
