which would you choose?

Postby Jingle Balls » Sun Jun 27, 2010 10:45 pm

1jzgte vvti or 2jzgte non-vvti.

both are around the same price, easily available, both make monsterous amounts of torque, but the 1jz considerably earlier and the 2jz a bit more.

Which would you prefer to have in your car and why?

And yes, a 2jz vvti would be mecca, but they seem to be quite rare

What are your plans for it?

For a street car with basic mods I'd go the 1JZ.

If just a daily with a wee bit more of go, I'd go 1jayZ, intercooler exhaust intake, and leave it at that.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

pends what car man

1jzgte vvti in the jzx100 chaser, cresta, mark II/jzx110 mark II, verrosa or blit wagon is bang for buck
but the ct15b are weak and tend to crap out due to oem bov being lame, its a simple fix by changing to a bigger valve
good on gas on the open road like most big cars but around town nah your dreaming

cant say i have seen a jzs170 crown yet, with a 1jzgte vvti but im sure they will be kicking around somewhere, not a bad car/shape

2jzgte for massive power and torque hands down but basicly the same as above really at the end of the day

comes down to what you want and what your preferences are

i love my vvti 1jzgte, hauls arse when its not on axle stands

for your application the torque spread of the vvti 1jz would suit it better i feel. VVTI FTW when it comes early torque.

Anyone got some stock dyno graphs of each?

awesome i'd love to see the dyno plot. It's the action sub 4000rpm that interests me. peak power is overrated in my current opinion.

the car that i'm considering to put one of these two motors in is a jzx90 (1jzge) which i've fallen in love with after owning smaller "more powerful" motors thus far.

hes put a vvti motor into a jzx90 before ( i think it was a 90 )

go on yahoo jp and get one, you can pick up said engines for $900nzd at the mo
screw paying $2+ g for one

will look into overseas procurement, i imagine freight will be a killer though. thanks for the idea

don't want to turbo the ge as i've had enough of modified cars really, i want something standard now in my old age (23?). like me, the ge is getting on in age (just coming up to 200k) so could do with a replacement any way, so why not get a low k's vvti gte or 2j is my thought

Go drive this for an idea of a vvti 1jz, although 110s run fly by wire system which can make the throttle feel a little odd:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 269910.htm

Stock they go something like this:

Or just buy that car, put some proper wheels on it and save yourself the hassle of an engine swap.
