Any chaps here in wellington with the ability to insert a helicoil?
Two of my exhaust studs have had them installed previously and they've shat themselves. In the process of putting new studs in. Motor's out and on a stand so no in car monkey business.
Would be great if you could come to me, I'm in Lower Hutt.
Can make payment in whatever form you see fit (within reason)

See if you can get a couple of helicoils from an engine reconditioner and DIY? They're pretty easy really.

Also are you sure they've been helicoiled previously? They dont generally fail

Yup. Definitely a helicoil came out've one.
Seemed really brittle though, snapped quite easily.
Could've been incorrectly fitted.

I had to do this with my CA18ET. The studs just pulled out when I tightened up the nuts.
I tried to do the helicoil, but I $&#$% it up cause I did it while it was in the car.
I ended up ripping the engine out and taking it to Mendoza's in Upper Hutt. I don't think it cost much. It was cheaper than buying my own helicoil kit which I would probably never need to use again.
I got them to helicoil the $&#$%, badly helicoiled, threads and drill out and re-tap the others, so I could use the next size studs. I went from 10mm to 12mm I think. The studs are HUUUUUUUUGE! Its SOLID as now. I also put a brace on the turbo downpipe to take some of the weight off the studs.

Have a helpful oldschooler coming round to do it for me.
If that doesn't work I'll have to make the time to take it to someone like Mendoza's or Howat Engineering
