Doesn't look too bad in the pics, but you'd really need a closer inspection.

The first thing that makes me worry is that the whole ad is in caps, which automatically puts me is suspicion of dealing with a muppet.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

I think I'd rather have the clap.

This is based purely on the price, and the photos. Not based on any facts or real knowledge.

Ah yes. Price. Half it and that'd be pretty reasonable.

Yea that why I felt suspicious about it. Blantantly no confidence in the car actually being as good as he says or else it wouldnt be in caps, and yes the price is steep.

Used to have SIC GT number plates on it if its the one I'm thinking of. Is a tidy looking car, but shit its almost as much as I sold my one for nearly 5 years ago.

Yeah you could buy one for 1/2 that price with highish kms 180,000+, faded red paint, stock mags and stock engine for $4500

Then youll most likely need to rebuild the turbo anyway

$1200 inc rebuild and fitting

Your engine will need big ends and new head gasket by around the 200,000+ mark and while the heads off you may as well get new pistons and rings installed, do the water pump.

Another $1000-$1500 there

Then you still wont havr a nice Blitz ECU, Strut Braces, Springs, Big Intercooler etc

Depends how much you love MR2s, if you want a cheap $4000 Mr2 for some thrills that you can drive for 2 years and sell for about $3000-$3500

Or if you want something thats a good base to build on and modify up and keep.

Cars are not cheap to modify, yet people expect to pay next to nothing for a good example where the owner has most likley spent 50% more on top of the selling price.

I would hesitate spending $15K on a mint modified MR2, $18-20K if it was near perfect condition and was pumping out decent KW. You gotta love them though.

You can buy a better car for the money he is asking.

No one even wanted mine for $7500 and it was 10x nicer than that heap.

Heylin that MR2 is not worth $8500. There are Gen3's in that price range with similar/same power and less kms.

im curious what others would buy instead of this if they had 8500 to spend.

not saying im a fan of that mr2 (yuck wheels, missing wing = no, bodykits = no, black bonnets = no) but it does sound like its had the money spent in the mechanical dept.

Yeah, it has had some good stuff put into it. But, the alarm bells are going like mad about everything else. As you say, black bonnet, bodykit, wheels, wing removed, a-pillar gauges, dreadful ad writing. It's not a great sign that if it has that much visual stuff going on to trigger my gag reflex, that the mechanical stuff has been done well, or done merely because somebody has been through a list of brand name shiny things.

I could be wrong, but that car just makes an awesomely bad first impression.

At least the interior hasn't been done in CUSTOM PAINTED CONSOLE SURROUNDS!!!! Like to match the exterior paint job. Yuck. I hate it when people do that :P

Rude install of the pillar guages though.
