Also make sure the car is heating up quickly. A cold car will always run REALLY rich. Don't heat a car up by idling it on the driveway, just drive it, it's better for it and it'll heat up quicker.

why is it better to warm up your when driving instead of sitting in one spot?

It's heats up faster (and more evenly I suppose???) and loads the motor as opposed to just idling it, which is bad for an engine.
