Ae92 speakers.

Postby callum » Thu Jul 08, 2010 7:38 pm

Hey did any ae92 corollas come with speakers in the front doors from factory, or did they all have the 4" speakers in the dash?

Cheers

Mine were in the dash. I got some sony ones and replaced them. They just bolt straight up easy as. (aslong as they are the appropriate size)
Unlike a mates st165 which we spent hours putting in LOL

I never saw any with speakers in the door from the factory but mine had them fitted when I got it. Problem is they had to cut out some of the door to make it fit.
The bonus is it did sound a lot better than the dash option even with identical speakers.

I dont think so aye. Problem is that the ones in the dash are pointing in the wrong direction so they sound shitty. I remember lessening the effect by cutting holes out of the grill to fit larger speakers sitting on the outside of it. Still not as good as they could be tho

I put some kenwood 4" components in my AE92. Had them running off an Alpine amp. Sounded alright, mind you they probably got drowned out but the 6x9" anyway. The good old days before I knew about staging

Yeah I have rubbish sound stage with the front speakers where they are but they are stealth. 6' splits in factory location. I think a good amp will help but can't be bothered yet

when I had my ae92 corolla GT sedan I put some infinity 4" components with tweeters mounted right in the corner behind the windscreen and on top of the dash. worked a treat and was the best you could prolly do with the factory shitty location of speakers. so if you can find some cheap 4" components go with that
