Altezza electric window problem

Postby fuzzilogyc » Mon Jul 12, 2010 10:19 pm

My mate's Altezza has a funny problem with the driver's side electric window. When you pull the switch so that it winds the window up automatically, it will wind all the way to the top, pause, then wind itself half way down. Anyone know what the problem might be?

Don't really know but it could be getting to the top of it's travel before getting to its limit switch so thinks there is something stuck in the window - like a child's head - and winds itself down again. And I don't have any idea on how you would adjust it :D

Ours does the same thing, Kind of odd, but I just got used to it and keep the switch up until the window has reached the top.

sounds to me like the master switch is faulty, or the power windows relay box thing. my cruiser used to have similar issues.

jzx100 chasers do the same

to slove the issue you need to reset the switch via doing this

1) flick the switch so the windo comes up
2) when the window is at its highest point keep holding the switch on the up posistion
3) wait for 5 to 10sec's and then see if that fixe's it

i came across this by chance on the jzx100 forums seams to be a comin issue, and it works

theres another one when you put your key into the door and turn to unlock the car, keep turning the key and hold it there..........and the window magicaly comes down

impress the ladys!!!

Doesnt always work.

It is not a faulty master switch,
they do not have a limit switch on the motor,

the have a damn crank angle sensor built into the motor.
The fault only occours when it has been apart.

If you get stuck here is what to do.

Pull the door apart and take the motor of the window regulator.
plug it all back together with the motor hanging out.
Switch on the ign switch and pull the matser switch up.
let the motor run on auto until it stops, ( some may take 60+ seconds)
Switch the ignition off and trip the door switch a couple of times to kill the window system.
Re-assemble the door and window and do not turn the ignition on until it is all fully assembled.

The problem usually occours when the ign is switched on with the master switch plugged in and the motor not.

Took a while to figure that out too. We have had quite a few in through work and never had that way not work, and that's for toyota's in general.

whats the position of the window when you assemble the the whole window regulator after doing this procedure? is it fully up or it doesnt really matter?

I would assume in the most upper position, as it sounds like a trick to fool the motor into thinking its in the upper most position.
