ae111 trueno. slid into a curb on drivers side and bent the arm pretty bad. changed the arm and it seemed fine. Then slid into a curb on the passenger side. i took the arm of as i had a spare but it didnt look bent at all so i replaced it anyway. On the passenger side the bit on the arm were the bolt goes through the rubber horozontally was bent on the surbframe not the arm. I hit it out so i could get the arm in.

Now all that put back together the drivers side wheel will be dead straight ahead and the passenger eheel will be abit the left like half a steering wheel turn.

Its horrible to drive and make a bump and screetch every time the tyre does a rotation.

I havnt touched the steering.

Is there something else that could have been damaged or is it in need of a big wheel alighnment?

Ill be sticking to rwds from now on

Sounds like you may have bent the steering arm as well. Have a good look at it, make sure its' still straight.

I think you need to stop driving into curbs.

Yeah, all this happened in one weekend. Anyway steering arm as in of the rack? If this is the case can these be replaced without removing the rack on these?

If not the steering arms could it be the alignment? just from changing the arms

I dont want to hire a trailer to get it there and its not the alighnment so thats why im asking

If the wheel is that far out and makes bad noises I would say its more than an alignment needed. Usually you can get it pretty right after replacing such parts, and just need the alignment to tidy the rest. You sure you put it all back as it was originally?

yeah i did all this before when i took apart subframe to do the clutch. theres nothing i can think of apart from steering i had a look and nothing noticeable

My sympathies - yeah check for bent steering arms and bent suspension struts.

Maybe try driving here

If you haven't bent anything too bad, re-adjusting the toe-in will be enough to keep you going.
Any time a suspension part is replaced or changed, it's usually time for alignment.

Also, check where your strut bolts to the body at the top

Sounds like you have damaged the chassis as well.....
Take it for a wheelaligment and they can find the damage.

i drove it home both times. When the left wheel is straight its spaced out further than the left.

Just to make it better it was the same corner that i did it on, but coming from different ends each time.

I checked the steering arms, all look completly fine and nothing diferent about the strut tops anb both look straight. will take it in tomorrow

I'd be taking it bloody easy too...
If you have some didsance to drive, I'd also be adjusting the toe to make it a bit safer. If you have masses of toe difference it can and will change direction randomly

all sorted now.

It was way out.

total toe from -45.3mm to +1.6 and negative camber changed to positive camber.

To change the camber be said he took the bolts out and did some grinding or something. Does some one know what he means as id like a bit more camber

Why would you want positive camber? negative camber = win

To change the camber he would have elongated the holes on the strut where the bolts goes through for the hub carrier.
