AE111 Clutch replacement

Postby eskimo » Wed Jul 14, 2010 9:30 am

Hi,

Im looking to replace the clutch in my AE111 myself & wanting to know if its a relatively strait forward thing that I can do over a few days.

Are there any little things that I need to do/look out for when removing & installing the gearbox and associated parts?

Any tips would be appriciated.

Cheers

It's pretty straight forward. The torque settings on the flywheel bolts are all that matters, you don't need a manual/step by step guide for a job like this. Centering the clutch plate is sometimes a pain.. but nothing too difficult

not sure if AE111 are like this (dont think i've done a clutch on one yet) but on the AE101s the rear engine mount can be a pain to get out, fouls on various things. i've found the easiest way is to knock the studs out of it once you have unbolted them.

ae9x, ae101 & ae111 are all like that.

Easiest to notch the crossmember out so you can remove it with rear mount in place. then do as mentioned earlier and knock all the studs out and weld bolts in.

Some of the later ones have a stud in the crossmember also which you can knock out.
