Best tip, get someone who has done it before to help you. Don't get them to do it, get them to assist you so you learn

its pretty straight foward,

you will need a decent socket set, spring compressors, jack etc.

Remove the wheels, take the brake lines off the strut, remove the sway bar (do both sides so you dont fight the sway bar)
Remove the 2 big bolts to remove the strut from the hub.
Take the 3 bolts off the top, and remove your shock.
Compress the spring, and remove the top nut. change the pring over and do the reverse to put it back together.

Failing that bring the car to my workshop.. best record for this job with 2 of us doing it is a little over 40 mins :)

dont need spring compressor with lowering springs, just need a mate to put weight on the spring when your undoing/doing the top nut up
The four seasons in Australia consist of "$&#$% it's hot", "Can you believe how $&#$% hot it is?", "I won't be in today because it is too $&#$% hot" and "Yes, the dinner plate size spiders come inside to escape from the heat."

Fitting springs is an easy job,

Drive it to the local shock shop,

and come back in an hour or two.

No stress, no problems and quite safe.
$150 inc a full wheel alignment.

mmm fair call i have seen it done wrong, springs do come out of the strut REALLY fast if youre not careful lol

Can undo top of shock while strut is in car, then jack car up. Weight of the car holds it from exploding, not unsafe at all. Do the reverse to put new ones in.

But you are much better off with spring compressors

Guys.
The OP is doing this for the first time.
Some of the things you are suggesting are not for the first timer to attempt....

Yah. Hand in cast for 4 weeks due to tearing the ligament between thumb and index finger again when the spring caught my thumb on the way out.
