Yeah apparently the hydraulics side of things is all kosher, and bearing will be changed with clutch.

Any garage can do it man, its hardly a specialist job. Just pick one that does good work.

i know it's not specialist, but it's a bit of a mission and there's a knack to it (or so i've been told) so would prefer somebody who's done it before, so I don't have to pay for people to f*ck around trying to figure out what to do etc.

I'd hope any local Toyota dealer would be able to sort it quickly. Although you might pay a little extra for it.

Two ways to get the box out easy
1. Hacksaw the bottom lug off the gb just in front of the bottom of the transfer (this method was told to me by an ex Toyota tech)
This way you can remove the box and transfer in 1 piece
2. Unbolt the side casing of the transfer to remove the internal driveshaft that goes from the gb to the transfer (this is the one you see when you remove the inner cv)
Out drops the transfer then remove gb in normal fashion

Hope this helps

There is a Toyota dealer near me that once charged someone $3k to remove and refit an engine to a late model Toyota.
