Postby stalker » Fri Jul 30, 2010 11:34 pm

Does anyone know if you can get a brand new brake booster unit for an old school EDIT: early 80's corolla?? Either Toyota direct, or from someone else??

Just thought I would ask on here before I bug Mark yet again

Race brakes, BNT, Partmaster, Repco

Most of those places should be able to supply one.

Just so long as you aren't asking for a DX part you might have some luck. DX is a trim level not a car

You'll probably struggle to find a new booster TBH, they rarely give issues. There is a crowd that reconditions them, think they have an ad in this months Petrolhead mag.

Emz, I always play nice  but DX is a well known term used by people that have no idea about cars "phat DX bro" so I don't like to encourage its use  On some forums its a hang-able offense to use it 8O

Good luck finding what you need though, finding new parts for old cars can be a right PITA!!!

Restoring a show quality car or do you just think the booster is causing your brake problems?????
For show, it'll be a lot less to get it plated & new diaghpram cause its dealer only, probably no longer stocked and costs BIG$$$$.
If you've got brake problems, it's almost Never the booster!!!
Symptoms?

The car will be a bit of a show car...just NOT a trailer queen!!

Im mainly asking as I have just brought a booster from a guy on tard me, and it looks fine, just needs a paint. And I thought while it is out, now would be the best time to take it down somewhere to get it "refreshed" as such, before I put it into the car just to find out it needs it doin then.

I was reading on a couple of American sites with all the hot rod builds etc (tad different as they are running yank tanks) but a couple said that most people dont bother to tidy up the booster units, and that the rubbers do tend to perish after a while....and with the one I brought been 20years old, thought it could be worth spending a hundy or two??
