Woohoo Spa this weekend. Looking like it could be a wet one as well, rain now for prctice one and is forecast throughout the weekend.

Its always a bit of a shock to see just how quick they are, having not watched any f1 in a couple of months.

Especially through eau rouge in the wet, first practice session :roll:

This in my view is the problem with F-1 they keep chopping and changing the formula.For me I'd have preferred to stay with the V-10s they were in excess of 900 odd HP before they changed to V-8s and quite possibly if they had Toyota may have won a race by now and may well have been still in the sport.

Article mentions ground effects cars in early 80s?? I wasn't born then. What are they on about?

As for ground effect cars, Michael added: "They are talking about putting a greater proportion of downforce to the diffuser, a ground effect car - like the early 1980's.

I understand the effect. But how do they achieve this? Front wing dragging along the ground? and/or a generally lower floor/diffuser?

seems to be the new theme, 1.6T. what with the whole world engine thing going on in WRC and WTCC as well. maybe i should turbo the starlet and get a head start on development :lol:

We have the know how for a pretty hot 4agte on here! Sure we may have to bend a coupla rules to make it last a bunch of races puttin gout 600+ hp...
But I'm sure we can get around that....

So it seems Ferrari got away with it. Pretty much lost all respect for formula 1 now, its degraded itself to entertainment, not sport. No better than that survivor crap they have on tv to cater for fat americans.

Why not allow teams to have 1 driver, and 1 crasher, at least then it'd make it interesting We'd have passing and big crashes, and it'd be a true gamble over who one, and they'd be no need for rules around team orders, cause it'd be clear which driver was favoured.

Its no real surprise though was it,every team has team orders wheather and I think especially upfront there its a bit naieve to think otherwise.The only real way to prove it is be in the inner sanctum of these teams.

No, just my ability to take it seriously as a sport. I mean it clearly changed the outcome of the race in a non-racing manner that was against the rules (as I thought they'd be applied any way).
Its the equivilent of a drugs cheat being let off at the olympics beacause they were taking cold medicine, and 'didn't realise' it had a banned substance in it. When was the last time you saw that happening? Serious sports have rules that must be followed to the letter and the spirit, the FIA has just proven they don't run serious sports.
Now I know they might be a bit gun shy after the whole Crashgate debacle, but in my opinion its no excuse to go lightly in this case.

The reason F1 can make money, is because the fans are prepred to pay to watch and follow it, if the fans start to think its a farce, they'll be less likely to pay up, meaning F1 becomes less and less viable.

Even if Ferrari threatened to leave, the FIA should have had the courage to take all Ferrari points off them for that race. I'm not arguing that they should have been banned for life, or had alll points stripped a la McLaren, just had more than a slap over the wrist with a wet bus ticket, with what is effectively lunch money for ferrari, and way less than they stand to potentially gain from their cheating.

Its the F1 equivilent of crickets match fixing, and that's illegal, why cant F1 be the same?

Personly I think it was all they could do. There is no way to prove the team told massa to pull over. Of course we all know it happened but how do you prove it? If they had of given them any real punishment then ferrari would have fought them in court costing everyone megabucks and most likely Ferrari would have one. They gave Ferrari a fine that they know it's not worth fighting over just to give the impression that they actually have some control over team orders when we all know they have none.

Blatant cheating is Mclaren having plans of Ferrari's 2009 car in there posession and only getting a 100 million dollar fine and then Ron Dennis coming out and saying this fine is nothing to us and it won't effect our 300 plus million $$$ budget for the next year.You want to talk about cheating and not punished heavily Mclaren are lucky to still be in the sport.

i don't watch F1 anymore, i know there has always been cheating but nowadays its so prevalent that its more of "who can get away with it wins F1" rather then "i have a better car setup and talented driver wins"
been watching superGT and more and more rallying. i find them far more entertaining and less "days of our lives" "cry me a river" "throw my toys"

edit: i completely agree with rolla_fxgt's post^. me as a fan have left cos of it,
