Moving a LVV Cert plate

Postby 1I1 » Mon Sep 20, 2010 5:21 pm

The cert guy I have used is away and I've tried searching this with no luck.

Can i just drill the rivets on my cert plate so that i can relocate it myself or do i need to take the car along to him and have it documented as well?

Fingers crossed moving it myself is fine.. it's too late now

they are stuck on with adhesive too, if they cleaned the surface first and it's on the flat they're a bastard to get off. Hopefully they just put it over dust.

Yeah mine pulled of real easy. Though that's possibly due to the fact it wasn't really put on correctly (flat) it the first place. Months ago when i spoke to certer regarding this he didn't think it would pull of nicely at all.

Mines in the boot, becuase the certifier could not find anywhere in the eng bay to put mine. As there were no flat surfaces big enough.

Yeah mine will be in the boot, just hoping they don't note down where exactly they place it in the car? - Don't want to have some ball sh*t clause catch me out

+1 for in the boot.

Although I did come across a cop that yelled at me asking why it wasnt in the engine bay, He tried telling me it had to be in the engine bay.

I told him to ring the guy who did the Low Volume Cert and tell him where it needs to be...

I did not like that police man.

Nah they dont note down where they stick it, just as long as it is fixed to the chassis of the vehicle, and you know where it is so you can point it out to whoever needs to know (wof inspectors, police etc)

Mine is in the drivers door frame.

When I had my car certed, The certifier just gave me the plate to put where I wanted, he didnt even see the plate on the car...So should be alright to relocate it.

Sweet as. Will proceed as i was.

Oh and re: cop. Certer had told me the reason why it's normally put in engine bay (uncovered) is so that it makes it easier for wof inspector / cop etc to find it easily.
