silvertop VVT solenoid, o-ring

Anyone know the specs for this, and where to source it?

I emailed Toyota and the only way to get the o-ring is to spring $190 for a whole new solenoid.

I tried a "this looks close" o-ring yesterday but it was slightly too fat, so the solenoid wouldn't go back in.

Try a gasket shop and match it to one off the shelf. Did this for the o-ring between the block and oil filter housing. Toyota $21 V gasket shop $2.

Could also try plumbers outlets, milking machine repair, even supercheap. Just say its dealing with heat and oil.

Oh, and use some lube when putting anything rubber into a tight space. Makes the job alot easyer.

Mana Bearings in Porirua if you go in with the oring, they can match it up.

What you can do is get a smaller o-ring and stretch it over, thats how I did mine.

There called Bearing, Tool & Industrial Supplies now.
They have moved from Tory street to Abel-Smith street.
Have been going to get bolts etc for my car, very helpful and friendly, but im not a Joe Blogs to them.

These guys would have something! Re-sealed my PS pump a few years ago for about $3, compared to the kit from toyota which was ~$100?

I got one from a diesil pump repair shop for mine.
The one here has a whole room of different sized o-rings on the wall and in racks.

I just found out the O-ring inside the solenoid works for the outside as well . Its slightly different but works.

I drove my car at speed into a bank at a motorsport event, thus o-ring priority has diminished

Also it would seem that it was a cam seal leak the whole time. Sigh.
