I am, however if he is going to do it let me send you the list of things we will be checking on the day so he can make sure they comply. :)

Goodness me plenty of emails waiting for me today... the main theme is "can I have a few more days to get my entry form in without the increase in price"... Simple answer is 'yup'...

If you are keen to come and haven't got your entry form to me yet I'll extend the $85 entry fee to 15 October. So lets see those forms coming in before then.

thank you to everyone who has entered so far. I'll be putting up a updated entry list over the weekend.

Thanks
Chelles. :)

Might be able to make this now since the Saddle Road hillclimb has been called off.

Space for a WRX race car also? He wants to put down a few K's to see if he's overcome setup woes.

Just another thing to let people know is battery placement and mounting.
In the engine bay is fine as long as the positive terminal is completely covered.
Not in the engine bay then it gets interesting depending on what type of battery you have, wet or dry cell.
If mounted inside the cockpit:
Musy be mounted on a flat metal base and have 2 insulated metal clamps affixed by a minimum of 8mm bolts and nuts in combination with under floor counter plates.
Wet cell batteries must be mounted inside an independently attached leak proof box vented to the vehicle exterior.
Dry cell batteries do not need to be mounted inside a box.

OEM placement is fine regardless I presume (as stated previously)? i.e. R33 has battery in boot.

If that is factory placement then it should be fine but will find out.

There is actually a metal barrier between boot and cabin though, as can almost be see in this pic:

yes an OEM placing is okay, as long as the mounts are secure and you have any exposed positive terminals covered.

so cam, going off the above pic, if i fill all my holes in the rear parcel tray i won't have to worry about making a sealed box? how picky do you get with holes? like do i need to fill in all the little ones where the trim used to attach?

don't really want to cover the whole thing with alloy if i can avoid it, glare in the rear-vision will be a bitch!

Put it this way... if battery fluid could get through the hole into the driver cabin then it needs to be seal up. (This is for relocated batteries, not OEM placement). So yup, just fill up the holes that are there that may let any fluid through and you'll be fine.

how will they need to be filled?will a sealant be sufficient or do they need to welded up? there are quite a few little holes. might just be easier to make a sealed alloy box for behind passeneger seat...

Chelles, the concern isn't just about the fluid, but also the fumes associated with a wet cell battery.

Officially any battery located in the 'Cockpit' needs to conform to the additional regulations.

MSNZ Manual definition of a 'Cockpit' is:

"Cockpit" means the structural inner volume of a vehicle which accommodates the driver and any passengers.

In this case I would expect the area between the battery and the drivers cabin to be relatively air-tight (e.g. a firewall between the battery and the drivers cabin on a regular car)

might just be easier to make a sealed alloy box for behind passeneger seat...

Please be aware of the requirements for a sealed wet cell battery located in the cockpit. For full definitions read the manual or give me a holler.

Also be aware that just because your car has a factory boot mounted battery, you may need to seal it anyway.

For example, MX5's come with a boot mounted dry cell battery from the factory.
