what does a top speed tell you anyway? its just comes down to gearing and your aerodynamic vs power ratio as to how much your engine can push the shape of the car through the air.

there are plenty of straight bits of road that in NZ which you COULD max your car out on but apart from a bit of a rush it doesn't tell you jack sh!t.

plus most cars are limited to 190kph if std ecu anyways.

Sorry, not starting a argument here.

I'm talking about a built drag car bro, Please don't max your ride at motorway or any other roads apart from the strips/racetrack.

the builders know the right gearing ratios for the vehicle to get their car over 400m the fastest, that's what a drag car is designed to do.

yep was a good night, met a few TS'ers too. best time of the night was 13.63 @ 164kmh. Rest of my runs were between 13.7 - 13.9 when I managed to gear into 3rd gear properly - ended up in neutral on a couple of runs which didn't help much

Launch control wasn't working too well as it kept bogging when I dumped the clutch so I switched it off after the first 3 qualifying runs. Had good fun warming the tyres up though, just had to stay away from the barrier.

Nice pics GTTpower - have you got any more of me? My wife was filming so didn't get any photos. Loved the AE8# that was there, looks so damn tidy.

Thanks to Emz and stalker for storing my wheels while I was racing too :)

I'm planning to head down for this one, will be my last opportunity to run before my summer engine renovations, so figure I'd better make it count. This will be the first time I've raced in about 6 or 7 years, and first time in the MR2. I'd like to think the car has 12s in it, but I'll be surprised if I can pull that off in my first outing.

Who else is going?

Can you get around not having a wof/reg if you have a log book?

You can get an NZDRA log book, just need to get tech inspected. Costs $30 for the tech and $20 for the logbook for a year. Ive had my starlet tech inspected for the last 2 seasons.
