probally not viable cost wise but I have always thought a carina was the perfect size for a 1ggte...

It's only expensive if you choose the wrong engine builder.
Mine's lasted 4 years so far with no issues, the only thing i've done to it is oil changes.
Link G3, Exhaust, Intake, S6 housing, S5 rotors(high comp). Around 240KW.

So maintenance = $80 oil change

I'd work out what sort of animal you want under the hood. Every engine is going to deliver a different feel. Me... i'd like a 1UZ in my corona, why though I have no idea.... its a V8 is all I have right now :lol: But yeah, not sure what i'll end up with, but I prefer revving the living shit out of engines, so not sure which will suit me 8) Hell I might just be 'boring' and go 4AGTE. No point being different if its going to cost you more for the same result.

So yeah, bank balance will dictate a bit and what work you can do yourself if any :)

Of the 3 engines you've indicated you're choosing between, and your desired power output, the turbo SR20 is the only realistic option.
You simply won't get there with a 3SGE and if choosing between two turbo engines/drivetrain combos why wouldn't you use the more modern with more readily available and reasonably priced components?

i was trying to get a hold of Scott form fraser today but he was always out. try again tomorrow. If he is able to put a gen 3 3sgte motor in then i will go that way, provided it is not much more then getting a SR20 in there.

Anyone know a good place to get nolathane bushings done? I have all my front and rear off. Also has anyone done a camber mod on a AA60 or ta63 or tt141 etc with the IRS. I know you have to add on another adjusting bolt and drill out the hole , but exactly where i do not know.

Hi, Ive done the camber mod on my corona. Heres a few pics of the finished product.

The bolts I used were bought new from BMW (around $60 for the set!!) i think they are from a M5.... there must be other cheaper options out there.

bmw part numbers :

33-32-1-095-102 ECCENT-BOLT
33-32-1-092-310 ECC-WASHER
33-32-6-751-446 NUT

No problem. From memory I got 0.5 degrees on one side and 1.5 degrees on the other on the lowest setting (not sure why the difference i guess i cant weld straight). A massive improvement over the 3-4 degrees you can end up with after lowering.

Its sooooo easy to make 400 reliable hp out of an vct s14/s15 sr20. Its also not that hard to make the same out of a 3S but a bit more costly to do the rwd thing i guess. Id go sr20 even though im a fairly staunch toyota man there pretty hard to beat

2/3RZ..................... no substitute for cubes when building ponies.
plenty of support for silly behaviour from the same guys that build pushrod motors that embarrass the hell out of technology down US 1/4's :wink:

Yea. SR20DET will be easier to hit 250hp than a 3SGE BEAMS, cheaper, will be less strained and give you more mid range torque.
