Ok had another look and have found that the transistor which i have tracked to twice and has 'B605' on it.

I have read there are tests to do to it which i will do shortly. Something along the lines of conducting one way and not another across the pins.
Can these tests be done insitu?

Well! I have tracked down the transistor. After finding it i realised that sergei pointed me straight to it! I cant believe how awesome you are sergei!

I started thinking that T707 was the type of transistor that i needed to find (not its location)

Done some more looking around and T707 has 734 331A. I think that the 331A is right. looks like some paint is covering the labeling. Is this something Toyota does so it cant be repaired easily?

That does not seem like common designation...
It should be something like 2SAXXX or AXXX where X are numbers (3 or four sometimes followed by letter).

In any case it is highly likely that this transistor can be replaced with any power PNP that is can take up to 5A current (as it is a switching application).

Only thing i am worried about now is that my woring might still be wrong. I'll try have a decent look when i am back from down south (Gisborne and Hastings).

Hey hey. Got the transistor put and cleaned up its face with a stanley knife to get the paint/glue off it.

The numbers i have on the bottom are:

B734
K331A

Had a quick google and havent really found anything. Is there some site that i can cross-reference to?

I will try to find something equivalent in same packaging.
Although the original one I gave you will work, it is in slighter bigger packaging and could possibly be a problem to fit.

hmm, is the T707 transistor in question?
Do you have a better pic of it, perhaps can you measure its width?
I am fairly certain that T707 is in TO126 packaging. Which means you can use the transistor I initially found.

As from datasheet the 2SB734 comes in unusual packaging that is slightly smaller than TO126 (but I am fairly certain TO126 can be crammed in there).

It is difficult to find Japanese transistors in NZ.
I am currently repairing an amp and I can't even find zener diodes for it, all zeners that are available in NZ of same packaging are way too imprecise.

- I can assume the middle is B

Which ones are E & C?

Yes, writing is the key. Just keep the writing same way.

Ran into some problem today - plugged in and the CEL - Check Engine Light didnt light up with ignition on.

I have taken out the intake manifold for fuel upgrade so i am hoping that this has something to do with it Something upplugged not letting ECU get power properly? Hmmm....

Actually thinking about it now, the ECU is earthed on the Intake Manifold right? Well i know there are earths on the manifold - I'll go with that for now

Yes, intake manifold is one of the earth points for ECU (Analogue earth, I think).
