yeah i have a pretty shit lifestyle right now..

Ive only had 6 long weekends this year, also sydney, south island boarding, diving, motorsport events..

Unfortunately euthanasia is illegal in most of the places and the last years of your life could be very excruciating if you cannot afford proper healthcare, or even just general care. It will come to a time where you will need diaper and tube sticking out of you, collecting piss, if you cannot afford a proper care, the misery will be unbearable. So yeah, it pays to live good for last 10-20 years with dignity, unlike majority of elderly in this world.

Yeah, that's not enough time off. I reckon a couple of weeks a year and at least a weekend away every month is a good balance.

Yeah, that's not enough time off. I reckon a couple of weeks a year and at least a weekend away every month is a good balance.

6 long weekends, 1 week every 1/4 and a 3 week ova xmas..

I get a month at Christmas, usually another week during the year, and handful of long weekends, and still manage to pay my bills. Works for me

that depends how you look at it

A lot of people are well stuffed before retirement age too.... I haven't had the best run, so I refuse to put money into anything I can't use before retirement age (65 or whatever it is in 35 years). Shit could back fire, but that's the gamble I take I guess.

Some people dont even make it retirement age...there are an awful lot of people being diagnosed with early stage alzheimers in their late 40's/early 50's

You're not exactly sacraficing a whole lot now to plan for later, are you?

I guess it depends on how much you earn, people who are particularly poor struggle to cover their week to week expenses, as you get wealthier and have a larger % of disposable income you have more choices about how you wish to plan your future (or not)
