LOL,

shihad wrote:I know your just asking out of curiosity but its so hard to not say why not just use ae86.I believe matt dunns work made a successful 2jz ae101 so hopefully he has something to say.

hay matt how come you guys didnt use ae8* chassy instead always wondered?

Yes we have converted two AE101 Corolla's to RWD now,
and also the 2005 Ford Focus with the XR6T.
We used the AE101's as when we built the first one they were quite a modern car and we wanted a car that was newish shape.
The Second was built as a copy of the first car, but more aimed towards endurance races.
It actually finished 2nd last weekend at the NZV8 event at Ruapuna in the 3 Hour Endurance race,
against the Ferrari F430, ex V8 Supercar and the 10 or so GT3 porsche'e that entered.

Yeah that was the original one we built, although it has had a few modifications ovre the years it's still the same car.
And here is the Focus
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =327280537

Both were built to endurance spec so are NOT spaceframed.
Which mean they would actually in theroy stay together and driveable if the rollcage was removed.

Some people enjoy a challenge  Lemme guess, you drive a standard corolla? Would be silly to want anything else really amirite?

I'd do it for shits and giggles, not because its a sensible thing to do or an economical way to get a rwd car 8)

i disagree with that, i would love to have a rwd ae101, purely because i know rwds are more fun to drive than a fwd and i love the shape of the ae101 trueno/levins.... but i would never do it as i know it would require such a huge amount of work, knowledge and $$$

also id say quite a few people could afford a project like this

but of course youd be better off buying a rwd car to start

does anyone have any pictures of the 2jz ae101? id be keen to see :D

I have a few various ones,

This is the first car we built,

I ran it at the 4 & Rotary's in 2002?

This will give you an idea of how big the modification is

and here are some various ones of the second one we built the same.

well those pics definitely put it into perspective haha

did the motor have to be mounted that far back or was it just for weight distribution etc?

The rules stated that you were allowed to move number 1 cylinder spark plug back by 5% of the wheelbase,
so that is where it is.

It ended up with almost exact 50/50 weight distribution.

from it's factoy location.

they never anticipated turning the engine around 90 deg,
so there was a bit of debate at the time,
but it was within the rules.
