greddy profec c spec II tuning

Postby gleem » Mon Jun 07, 2010 9:43 am

Just in stallled this on my rb20. Ive read the whole 20odd page manual on line and still cant get it sussed. I want boost at 7 psi and 14. When i set the limit (set gain) it doesnt work. had it good a few times. but i had it at 9 psi on the boost guage then i went into second and it rocketed to 18 psi.

And how to change kpa to psi as i cant get it to stay on psi either.

Anybody had experience with this or lives on the shore and i come to for a quick look (beer ofcoarse)

First of all, i forgot how to change it to psi, but you can work around it and calculate back from psi anyway, tuning method remains the same.

Set all values to minimal when you start.

Set @ 0%
Gain 5%? (I think that's the minimal)
Set gain @ 0 (The most important)
Warning @ What ever you believe is a safe level.
Limit @ What ever, mine is on 5%
Peak hold @ ON (Good to recall what peak boost was!)

1) Increase GAIN by 1~2% each time. I'm not exactly sure what this does but higher gain = better (lol...) But too high gain results in unstable boost and you get different peak boost levels each time. I think 15% is a good number, gets stable peak boost on both 3sgte, sr20det that were mildly factory.
Increasing this will see higher peak boost too. Increase it until you see fluctuations in boost psi between runs- then decrease it a little bit. (This part doesn't need to be perfect anyway...)

2) Increase SET (By rotating the dial without pressing MODE in default screen) in 5~10 units between each run. This will raise the boost level, so you WILL see increase in boost. When you near your desired boost level, obviously you should increase it smaller increments to play safe. I increased this in 2 units at a time after 15psi, (Aim of 17psi). <Mine is at 63 i think?>

3) Set Gain. This keeps the wastegate shut until you reach desired boost, so it reduces turbo lag time. Higher SET GAIN will result in faster spool, too high will see over boost and catastrophy. This should be set around 4psi below your desired max boost (I read it on forums somewhere, and it works for mine) but differs between different turbos and setups. Mine is at 120 (12psi), desired boost of 16~17psi.

4) Warning - Self explanatory. The boost point when the screen turns red and the boost at which you want the limiter to come in at.

5) Limiter - Self explanatory also. When you go over the preset boost limit, it cuts boost by set % here. Mine is at 5% but i've never hit boost warning point of 18.5psi so I don't know how it feels to have this kick in...

6) Peak Hold - Flashes max boost reached during acceleration for 2? seconds. Useful to have it on all the time.

Pressing MODE cancels any changes made in that window and returns to default screen.
Holding the dial saves any changes made in that window and returns to default screen.

Oh, and try holding the dial pressed in default window, i think it might change between kPa and Psi? If you're in PSI mode, the kpa sign should disappear.

Play it safe and have fun

P.S first gear builds speed too fast and you will see less boost. Do this in second or third gear (third better to be accurate)
