Not if you smash the crap out of it with no care for the gearbox etc

But generally yes, a 1/4 in the 14s is very rare.

Either way for $1000 you aren't going to get good gains, buying a GTZ levin/trueno would be less work for more gains.

Larger CC injectors don't atomize the fuel as well at low volume.

So because they wouldn't get any where near they duty cycle they were intended for, it'll run like shit.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

stock injectors are fine, if you put 3s ones in that have black tops they are 440cc... they would need ballists and ecu to work anywhere near "right"
I only peek the std injectors slipping over 9000rpm not were your stock engine is nor what your std mapping will handle

You probably can't, the majority end up in the high 15s low 16s. But as with anything you get freak cars / drivers

What produces more power 4age or a b16a? Both standard. :)

Generally B16A.

Silvertop 4age = 160hp
Blacktop 4age = 163hp

B16A (first gen) = 158hp
B16A (second gen) = 168hp.

4AGE wins on torque output though.

Yeah Toyota figures are interesting  3hp difference between silver and blacktop doesn't quite add up when you race side by side. Average silvertop getting high 15s and average blacktop getting low 15s.

Save a bit more $$ install a link, get it tuned.
That will make a world of difference.
Oh, and put the stock aircleaner back on and maybe duct some air to it.
Bugger all gains to be had from the exhaust without some serious engine mods. Certainly none worth the money.

Is it really worth forking out for a link and tuning on a standard silvertop?

Hell yes, it is. I will go so far as to say it is the single biggest bang for buck mod you can do to one.
I don't know if its our fuel or what, but the stock tune sucks for our conditions.
SARD ecu in mine was like buying a new car....

Aftermarket ecu is the best performance gain.

Ive seen some of the clubman guys, those silly looking Lotus cars/replicas, and quite a few of them run the silver/black top, most are simply stock with an ecu and they have gain 5-10kw+ just with a tune.

Costs $2000 though, will hurt the wallet, but its definitely worth while.
I went from 119kw atw to 130kw on my turbo 4a.

Ha yea...
Its more for preventative modifications.
I wired the ecu in myself with help. Spent about $1200 for an ecu installed and tuned which is a bargain :) But a workshop will charge around $2000+.
Nightmare of a job though, ergh, thinking back brings up lots...and lots of time spent. Oh god the wires

Lol yeah, I averaged the numerous figures I'd read on several sites.. the common theme seems to be that Toyota got to their power figures by running their engines on testbeds without ancillaries, hence in a real-world dyno situation they don't hit "factory" output anyway, so they're largely irrelevant!

Its more than just a kw gain. If tuned right there will also be a huge torque gain, that is what will make the difference. Also economy will improve.
And also future proofing for further mods.
I can't really think of anything else that will gain as much for the money?
