Where to buy welding cable in Auckland/North Shore

Postby cat007 » Tue Jan 11, 2011 9:20 am

Hey all

I'm currently running an earth cable from my battery in the boot to the top of the rear strut tower - which I don't think is perfect, especially for things like the ECU and Wideband sensor, as they require pretty solid grounds....

Is it worth running an earth cable to the front? And if so, where should I go to get some welding cable? I'm on the North Shore.

Cheers

I have made similar post a while back, basically couple of forum members came forth with good deals, and another suggestions were BOC on porana.

Ah yep - rummaged through sergei's posts and found the one where BOC was recommended. Will pay them a visit today!

Thanks guys :)

So on the tech side of this, is it actually worth running an earth cable from one end to the other of a car? Or does the car shell provide a good enough 'transfer' of the earth from one end to the other? I would have thought so long as you go to bare metal for all the earths it would be fine.

Don't run earth cable. It is counter productive. Best earthing is to the chassis (just make sure it has good contact).

Roger that - I'll clean up the main earth contact point and use a better quality connector.
